A fishing miracle

I went to the beach Emerald Isle, for a week. We had planned to go on the beach with my mom’s  family, the Newton’s. (Abby, Casey, Lindsey, Uncle Dale, Cole, Roman, Aunt Emmie, Dan, Alan, Elizabeth, and David). We were going on the beach on Tuesday, August 02, 2011. Me, Abby, Casey and Faye were looking for sand fleas in the water. We found lots of them. After we found a couple we put them in a blue pool with a little bit of sand and water. Then we got tired of looking and went in the water to swim. I met a girl, Zira, who was very kind. We played in the sand some. We swam in the water again. Then mom said we had to leave in a little while. The girl’s said there was a shark in the water, I couldn’t see it, and they yelled,” There’s a shark! There’s a shark!” Anyway, After a while Zira had a little net and I asked to borrow it to see if I could catch a few fish. The first time I just caught sand and seaweed. Then a couple of tries later I caught two silver little fish.  I was so excited and ran up to the dark green tent. Mom said, “Oh my gosh! Wholly smokes! Ellie!” Dad said, “ Ellie, Did you really catch those?!” I was so excited that I told the girls and they were like,  “Cool!” Then I put them back in the water and headed back to fishing with the net again. I caught some sand again then I caught two sand fleas. After a couple tries I caught another silver little fish. And that was my fishing miracle.

The facts about Reindeer

Santa’s reindeer are not like any reindeer around. Regular reindeer don’t fly, but Santa’s reindeer fly. In the spring, reindeer eat shrubs and grasses. In the winter they have to dig in the thick snow to find lichens. Lichens look like small, crusty pieces of moss but they are actually a symbiotic organism of a fungus and green algae. Reindeer have strong antlers and when those antlers grow and fall off they grow new ones. Reindeer have a skin type on their antlers which is called velvet. Velvet on the antlers are soft and furry. That soft furry stuff gets itchy, and the male Reindeer itches it off and the antlers fall off. Sometimes male Reindeer fight with each other because they fight over a female Reindeer. When the reindeer pushes the other reindeer back, the other one gets the girl and the girl has babies. Just like when you get a boo boo it heels right back up.(unless you pick it.) anyway, the antlers are finished growing by August. They lose them early December or early January. The females generally keep their antlers until calving time, 7 months when they where bred. Then the antler growing process is repeated all over again. Reindeer herding exist perhaps 2-300 years ago and that connection between human and reindeer, foremost of form of hunting, is a great deal older. Reindeer can be found all over the world. They are native to all continents except for Australia and Antarctica. There are about 100 Reindeer in the world.

Shutterfly's Flexible Christmas (or later holiday) Cards!

My family is excited to order our Christmas cards from Shutterfly - as we have many years in a row!  They have the coolest designs!  We think it is so much more fun to get a photo card in the mail than to get a card without a picture.  With some of our friends and family this is the only time of year we get in touch, and we want it to be personal!  This year I love the 5x5 stationary cards with the matte finish.  We are getting the Red Revamped with the Red Border and one photo.  But there are many options that you can choose more than one photo - if everyone in your family isn't looking good in the same picture!  Ha!  We also love the Merry Berry Stripes and the Chic Snowball Dots!  :)  Every year we use Shutterfly, and they always get the cards to us really fast, and they are always correct.  Here’s a link to the Christmas photo cards http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/christmas-photo-cards.  Or if you like, they also have Holiday Cards here: http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery/holiday-cards.  Sometimes if we are running late we do New Years Cards, and one year we even did Happy Valentines Card’s instead of Christmas!  http://www.shutterfly.com/cards-stationery
